Common questions

Which Macs are supported?

tinyping, tinymon and tinydeck require macOS 14 Sonoma or later and run natively on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

The panel disappeared behind another window.

All three apps use a floating panel that normally stays above other windows. If it goes missing, reopen it from the app's menu — its size and position are remembered.

tinyping shows no replies at all.

Some hosts and networks silently drop ping traffic, which looks identical to an outage. Try a known-responsive address such as 1.1.1.1 to confirm the app is working, then check whether the host you want actually answers pings.

A tinydeck button says it can't control another app (error -1743).

macOS requires your permission before one app can send commands to another. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation, find tinydeck, and enable the app it is trying to control. If tinydeck is not listed yet, run the button once and approve the prompt that appears.

Do I need an AI subscription to use tinydeck?

No. The AI features are entirely optional and bring-your-own-key — add an OpenAI or Anthropic key. Every button can be written by hand without any of it.

Do the apps collect any data?

No. See the privacy policy.

How do I install the apps?

tinyping, tinymon and tinydeck are downloaded directly from this site rather than the Mac App Store. All are signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so they open normally — drag the app to your Applications folder and launch it.

What do they cost?

Nothing. All three apps are free. If one of them saves you some trouble, there is a tip jar in the app menu — pay what you want, $4.99 suggested. Tips are processed by Stripe.

Refunds

Tips are voluntary donations, but if you tipped by mistake email [email protected] and we will refund it, no questions asked. mTally purchases go through Apple — request those at reportaproblem.apple.com.
